He experimented with recorder timbres and techniques, such as multiphonics and microtones, inspiring composers such as Louis Andriessen, Will Eisma and Rob du Bois in the Netherlands, Sylvano Bussotti in Italy and others to use the recorder in their compositions.
Vetter died in Munich.
