According to the Internet source given below, Giraut de Bornèlh [Guiraut de Borneil or de Borneyll] was a French troubadour born the Limousin, probably in Bourney, near Excideuil in modern-day France.
He is credited with the formalisation, if not the invention, of the "light" style, or "trobar leu". He may have accompanied Richard I of England and Aimar V of Limoges on the Third Crusade staying with Bohemond III, "good prince of Antioch". He known to have made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
