Victor Herbert  (1859-1924)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Victor Herbert was an Irish-born composer (also cellist, conductor) who settled in New York, 1886, and wrote many successful operettas including, "Naughty Marietta" and "Babes in Toyland"; also serious operas, 2 cello concertos, etc.
In common with many of his contemporaries he also used a pseudonyms namely Noble MacClure.
