Der Mann, der vor Dir war is a wonderful Will Höhne song from the 1940's. A favourite of Wilfried Drygala who sang it beautifully a few times as a member of the
Idle Fellows and sometimes at the Anglo-German Club, Bremen.
The song itself is about the woes suffered by a man whose partner constantly compares him unfavourably with his predecessor. The final verse however, the sufferer cheers himself up with the thought that his torturer will treat his successor in the same manner when he leaves her.
