As gleaned from the the website given below, Peter Holtslag has brought his interpretations of early - and contemporary - music to audiences all over Europe. He shares the concert platform with musicians such as William Christie, Andrew Parrott, René Jacobs and Marie Leonhardt as well as The Parley of Instruments. As a soloist, as well as with the recorder trio
La Fontegara Amsterdam, he performs and records extensively, his repertoire ranging from fourteenth-century music to avant-garde pieces (of which many have been written especially for La Fontegara Amsterdam).
Born in Amsterdam in 1957, Peter Holtslag studied the recorder at the conservatory of his native city and was the recipient of the Recorder Soloist Diploma with Distinction. At the early age of twenty-six he was appointed Professor of Early Music and Recorder Studies at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Since 1988, he has held the same post at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg. Apart from these regular teaching activities he holds summer masterclasses at the Casa de Mateus in Portugal.
