The Dude's March is as the title suggests a splendid, strutting, swaggering, posturing affair - an Austrian riposte the to the American cakewalk craze of the period perhaps? As it is, its charming whistling-like melodies in close harmony are quite demanding in this adaptation for recorder. There are many excursions into to the upper registers calling on ensemble skills of the highest order and exquisite tonguing. The 2nd "tenor" in particular has plenty to do in not only having to do much bar-counting but also to alternate between bass, descant and sopranino recorders. A great fun piece par excellence!
A tempo of 180 crotchets/min. is suggested.
