This is one of my favourite duo pieces which I have played with a number of partners over the years. I first accompanied Jutta Köster (neé Meyer), and then Bettina Kiefner, Nanette Wiethölter and presently (March 2001) Gesa Scharf. As a recorder duo we were all accompanied by Egbert Heiß on piano.
Actually, this work is principally intended as a flute solo accompanied by piano but I have extracted a bass accompaniment from the piano part which works quite well. There are five movements namely: Andantino, Largo, Allegro, Grave and Allegro. I especially like the closing passage of the final Allegro with its fine swinging style.
