This is a much loved and played, by me, work that I purchased together with
Jutta Köster in August 1993. We played all three sonatas on a number of occasions and a few times in public. Since then I have played it with
Bettina Kiefner in 1995 and Nanette Wiethölter in 1997-8. Presently (February, 2001) it is in the
Bremen Recorder Touring Company repertoire whereby I accompany
Gesa Scharf, who plays treble recorder, with my bass. All of us have had the good fortune to have been accompanied by
Egbert Heiß on piano.
The three sonatas are as follows:
- Sonata No. 1, C-major, Adagio, Allegro, Adagio, Giga
- Sonata No. 2, F-major, Adagio, Allegro, Largo, Giga, Gavotta
- Sonata No. 3, G-major, Largo, Allegro, Adagio, Gavotta
These sonatas are absolutely great for bass/continuo players whereby most of the allegros are pretty "black" and soloistic talents are occasionally called for.
