This was one of the first works that I learned as a brand new recorder player on H.M.S. Victorious back in 1964. I had been loaned a copy by REA 1 Jim Randall who thought it would be a good idea if I learned the recorder. (how right he was!). When he went on draft and left the ship, I laboriously copied it quite beautifully in ink into my
Manuscript Music Book (which lived in my
Ditty Box along with other music items that he had.
I finally purchased the Schott Edition sometime in the 1980's. The sonata is quite straightforward and its movements are: Allegretto, Andante, Menuett and a happy Rondo allegro.
