Length: approx. 3½ mins. Sounds best with the bass doubled.
Cherry Leaf Rag is burbling, rippling rag in the almost "classic" form of AABBCCDD with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the B- and C-strains whereby the AB- and CD-strains are written in the major keys of C and F respectively. In this transcription for recorder quintet, the melodies alternate between the treble and 1st tenor both of whom have some bar-counting to do. It would be interesting to know whether the composer ever played this piece on his xylophones.
Cherry Leaf Rag was published by Victor Kremer Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
