This is a fine bubbling rag of medium difficulty, its strains strongly evocative of a "chatterboxing" young lady as depicted on the cover of the original sheet music. While perhaps not so well known as Botsford's
Black and White Rag (1908) (DBE 392),
Chatterbox Rag has its own charms. Its form, ABBA (in G) CB (in C) deviates from the ragtime classic of
Scott Joplin et al, is an interesting variant. A tempo of 84 crotchets/min. is suggested.
