I first heard "Beguine" being played by The Christopher Whitehead Girl's School Worcester Recorder Ensemble, directed by Glenis Cole at the Waldschule, Schwanewede in April 1982. But it was not until the Summer of 1999 that I finally purchased it whilst on a brief visit to Leeds, England and intended to be used by the Alt-Aumund Blockflötenensemble. It proved to be a little to difficult however, this piece requires delicate playing by both the treble and descant voices if it is not to sound squeaky.
