Farewell Recital in Hafenhaus, Vegesack on 20th February, 2001
As part of their preparations for their oncoming tour of New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia in April 2001, Gesa Scharf and Geoff Grainger gave a private recital for family and friends in the relaxed atmosphere of Vegesack's well-known hotel, "Der Havenhaus" where in bygone days, Bremen whaling captains would spend their last nights ashore before setting of on their whaling voyages. Gesa and Geoff were accompanied by Egbert Heiß whilst Monika Jenne, soprano, provided vocal contrast with songs by Gershwin and other traditional composers. Items played by the Bremen Recorder Touring Company during the recital were:
Sonata No. 1 from Sonaten I, II u. III by J. B. Loeillet [de Gant], Sonata in F by Daniel Purcell,
Hoe-Down by Brian Bonsor, The Easy Winners by Scott Joplin arranged Brian Bonsor and
A Maori Medley arranged by Gesa Scharf and Geoff Grainger.
These items were recorded two days later at Yellow Jacket Music in Worpswede, near Bremen, Germany.
