Francesco Turini (1589-1656)

According to the Internet source given below, Francesco Turini was an Italian composer born in Brescia, Lombardy. His father Gregorio was a singer, cornetist and eminent musicologist at the court of Emperor Rudolf II in Prague. On his father's death the emperor took a personal interest him and he was sent to study music in Venice and Rome after which he was made his chamber organist.
In 1624, Turini was the cathedral organist in Brescia as his father had been. He wrote madrigals, motets, masses, sonatas for two violins and basso continuo. A four-voice mass was especially famed being later quoted both by George F. Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach.
