According to the Internet source given below, David Warren Brubeck was an American jazz pianist and composer, considered one of the foremost exponents of cool jazz. He wrote a number of jazz standards, including In Your Own Sweet Way and The Duke. Brubeck's style ranged from refined to bombastic, reflecting both his mother's attempts at classical training and his own improvisational skills. His music is known for employing unusual time signatures as well as superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities.
Personal remarks:
I first took an interest in Dave Brubeck having heard Paul Desmond, the saxophonist of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, playing Take Five on a Portsmouth pub juke box in 1959 or so. Later, I must have spent a fortune in juke boxes pandering to my obsession to that ear worm. Unable to acquire Time Out, the album upon which it was recorded, I purchased the two albums listed below in Gibraltar music store. In my vinyl collection I have:
