Lennox R. F. Berkeley (1903-1989)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Sir Lennox Randal Francis Berkeley, was an English composer who took up music only after leaving Oxford University; then became pupil of N. Boulanger in Paris. Collaborated with Benjamin Britten in "Mont Juic", orchestral suite of Catalan dances. Has written operas including Nelson and A Dinner Engagement; 3 symphonies; 2 concertos for piano; one for 2-pianos; many piano solos; Four Poem of St Teresa for contralto and orchestra, and a few other works to texts with Roman catholic associations; film music. He was Knighted 1974.
