p_strattone.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Eugene Augustus Rühlmann, stage-named Eugene Stratton, was an American-born dancer and singer born in Buffalo, New York.
He went to England in 1880 and spent most of his career in British music halls was the main song & dance man in the Moore & Burgess Minstrel Show. He left the minstrels to join the music hall circuit in 1887 mainly appearing as a "black-faced" singer
His friendship & association with Leslie Stuart gave him many of the songs of which he made records of most of Stuart's songs between 1899 and 1911.
60 Old-Time Variety Songs gives him as the singer of Lily of Laguna (1898) and Little Dolly Daydream (1897) both written and composed by Leslie Stuart.
He died in Christchurch, Hampshire.
