p_abarbanell.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Lina Abarbanell was a German-American soprano singer born in Berlin, Germany .
She performed in grand and light opera and musical comedy making her debut at sixteen at the Neues Theatre, Berlin in 1895. Her American career started in 1905 as the soubrette in the Johann Strauss operetta Frühlingsluft (Spring Air). And made opera history s Hänsel in The Met's debut production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel. She remained in America performing on Broadway and at venues across America. She left the stage in 1934 but remained active over virtually the remainder of her life as a Broadway casting director, producer, and stage director.

On a personal note, many apologies to Lina Abarbanell for having had her listed here as a pub singer - such are the vagaries of my classification and categorisation schemes!!
Of interest is her rendition of The Call of Love (1913) music: Harold Orlob words: Will B. Johnstone.
