Sunderland Lighthouse
Last updated: 22.01.22
I got to sing Sunderland Lighthouse when I joined the Tyneside Maritime Chorus in early 2011. Sung to an Irish tune, it tells of the heroic efforts by one Mister Murray, engineer, who was the talk of the town when he moved the 300 ton structure down a pier. Whether this relates to an actual event or is poetic license is presently (May 2013) unresolved.
