I first consciously heard "Rare Ould Times" sung by Wilfried Drygala when he introduced it into the Idle Fellows repertoire. I always considered his rendering to be definitive and he sang it to perfection for my taste. It was also a great favourite of Steffi Noack who sang with us briefly, just once, in 1993. The song's of a loser looking back to a Dublin which only exists in his head.
