I either learned "Quartermaster's Stores" as an army song from my father, or as a Combined Cadet Force army cadet at the tender age of 13 in Castlemartin, South Wales, or finally as a Sea scout round-a-bout the same time. This litany on all the strange things that can be found in the Quartermaster's Stores is extremely well known. Even Wilfried Drygala of
Idle Fellows fame knew it, perhaps through his scouting connections, and we occasionally sang a predictably sanitised version. The version which I sing can be found in
101 Pub Favourites for Buskers and there is also a version in
Community Book of Fireside Songs.
