My daddy is dead
Last updated: 11.10.23
My daddy is dead is an exquisite piece of English nonsense which I came across in Geoffrey Shaw's Twice 44 Sociable Songs. It is of a brief succession of inane calamities whereby a young man (it could not be a lady, could it?) manages to lose his inheritance in a series of poor bargains involving an initial six horses quickly to followed by a cow, a calf, a cat and finally a mouse that burned his house down because, somehow or other, its tail caught fire.
Hard to believe, eh!! Will, some people are simply born losers and this guy was a classic. I mean with a chorus like With my whim wham waddle of! Strim stram straddle of! Bubble of Pretty boy, over the brow it has to be perfectly obvious.
