Ka mate! Ka mate! (Maori Haka)
Last updated: 11.10.23
Taking my line from the Spice Girls, I have learned this "song" in preparation for a tour of New Zealand with Bremen Recorder Touring Company in 2001. We have also taken up this chant in the The Vegesack Whalermen (one never knows when one might need it) the version of which can be found in Solid Gold Maori Songs.
Having lived as a "Bloody Southerner" amongst the Geordies in Geordieland, soaking up their culture - I came to love all things Geordie. Especially their humour. (Please check out the Tyneside pages). I really do hope that no one takes offence by my including a pair of Geordie versions in the Videos.
