Happy days and lonely nights
Last updated: 11.10.23
Although having known "Happy days and lonely nights" from childhood, it was only on joining the Royal Navy that this Billy Rose (words) & Fred Fisher (music) song from the 1920's took on another dimension for me. The words we sang would have devastated poor old Billy. We changed his version of "With the parting of the ways, you took all my happy days ....." into"With the parting of her stays, both her ***** went different ways .....". For the rest of this ribald nonsense you will have to stretch your imagination or search elsewhere, dear surfer!
The version I sing today can be found in 101 Pub Favourites for Buskers.
