The version that I sing of "Golden Slumbers" can be found in Andrew Gant's Folk Songs of the British Isles. The text is adapted by W. Chappell from and old lullaby and its melody is 17th century English versions of which appear in many ballad operas.
For my taste it has a lovely melody and it was sung quite a lot in the Grainger family in the mid- and late-1940's. This song also inspired the Beatles who recorded a song of the same title.
