Come to my window
Last updated: 07.12.22
I had never heard of Come to my window until coming across it Folk Songs of the British Isles. According to the compiler, Hugh Gant, this is one of S. Baring-Gould songs from Songs from the West. This is a much watered down version earlier gustier lyrics whereby a young woman had been married to a rich old man against her wishes.
This version however has its charms and reminds me somewhat of Dat du mien Leefsten büst, you can really ham up the longing and yearning as the song progresses and the desired young man still has not having turned up even when dawn is just about to break.
