Length: approx. 3 mins.
My Favorite Rag is a happy composition with some beautiful tinkling melodies spiced with a few quirky bits. Also quirky is its form which is AABBACDC with a 4-bar introduction and two 4.bar interludes between the AC- and DC- strains. The A- and B-strains are of 16 bars whilst the remainder have miserly 8 bars whereby the ABBA- and CDC-strains are written in the major keys of G-and c-respectively. The cover of the original sheet music shows a deranged pianist in an extraordinary posture obviously performing his favourite rag. In this adaptation for recorder quintet, the treble player will delight in tripling the triplets which characterise this piece.
My Favorite Rag was published by Roger Graham Music Pub., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
