Length: approx. 4 mins.
The Stolen Sweets in question appear to have been acquired, judging from the cover of the original sheet music, by a pert blonde smiling through the broken lid of a sweet-box. The waltz itself is a lovely flowing affair with catching melodies which are characterised by dialogue between the upper and lower voices. Its form is ABBACA with an 8-bar introduction whereby the AC- and B-strains are written in the major keys of Bb and Eb respectively. In this adaptation for recorder quintet both the 1st and 3rd tenors are expected to alternate to treble and bass respectively.
Stolen Sweets was published by Harry von Tilzer Music Pub. Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
