Brain-Storm Rag, an early Stark composition when writing as Bud Manchester, is a fine free-flowing rag in AABBCC form with a 4-bar introduction and an 8-bar coda. The Stark catalogue describes this item as a "Rag wake-out". It is included in the mother of all blurbs with the following modest statement.
"In this collection you have the storm-center of high-class ragtime. The fountain from which composers draw their inspiration. The gauge by which publishers test their manuscript. Ingenious, unique and original. Trenchant, terse and scholarly. They are the philosophy of Bacon clothed in the keen wit of Falstaff. They are the rag classics. There are no others."
What more can be said!
