Sunburst Rag is a bright, jolly, cheerful Scott rag in AABBACCB form whereby the ABBA and CCB strains are in major keys of G and C respectfully. Scott arranged this composition for all instruments which gives the editor no qualms in presenting this adaptation for recorders. The B strain is really quite lovely strongly contrasting with the vigorous A and C strains - all-in-all a real fun piece. The cover of the original sheet music shows a dramatic dawn scene set presumably in Egypt on the Nile. An Egyptian maid, paying no attention to a magnificent sunrise, gazes thoughtfully over the prow of a canoe-like boat (not papyrus) in which an indeterminable harp-like instrument is stowed.
Sunburst Rag was published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a sextet version of this item.
