I was introduced to this piece by Stephan Schrader sometime in 2001-2001 as a member of his Bremen recorder ensemble. It is a beautiful setting of a madrigal by Alfonso d'Avalos (1502-146). Hopelessly romantic, the lyrics express the wishes of a lover who in the presence of his beloved desires to separate from her in order to enjoy the raptures experienced on seeing her again.
A notable performance as a bass player and member of the Diepholz Ensemble was given at the Kreismusikschule Diepholz on 8th September 2001.
