Dengozo is another delightful Nazareth Tango, also one of his best known as it was famously danced by none less than Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire in the RKO production The Story Of Vernon and Irene Castle (1939). Its form is AABBACCABBA, the strains fairly tootle along fairly begging to be played by recorders. This piece benefits enormously if it is accompanied by a pair of Tango dancers. This may seem unconventional but the editor has had the very best of experiences in publicly performing a sister work, Bregeiro (1914), together with ten other recorder players of the Bremen Recorder Touring Company at the Gustav Heinemann Bürgerhaus, Vegesack in June 2003 when accompanied by a young, heavily-in-love Tango pair.
A tempo of 84 crotchets/min. is suggested.

Dengozo was published by Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
