The Babe in question is fittingly, a pretty rosy-cheeked fox-huntress as can be seen on the cover of the original sheet music. The fox-trot itself has an AABBCCA form with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the BB- and CC-strains whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of G and C respectively. This adaptation for recorder sextet is a very pleasant bass and tenor affair. The editor particularly admires the B-strain in which the 1st tenor has a pretty solo run countered with lovely bass responses. All-in-all, a smooth dance piece to be enjoyed by one-and-all!
Oh! Babe!! was published by Frank K. Root and Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 150 seems crotchets/min. is suggested.
