Length: approx. 2½ mins.
Yankee Grit is a march two step in AABBCC form with a 4-bar introduction and a 16-bar interlude between the C-strains whereby the A/B strains are each of 16 bars and written in G-major whilst the C-strain is of 32 bars and in C-major. Yankee Grit is personified in the shape of a lasso wielding moustached cowboy as shown on the front cover of the original sheet music. The march itself is a lively affair - somewhat shorter than most of Holzmann's marches but if length is required then it could well be extended by repeating the A- and final C-strain which is an octave higher than the first.
Yankee Grit was published by Leo Feist, New York, USA.
A tempo of 180 crotchets/min. is suggested.
