Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if the 1st tenor is doubled.
Dixie Queen is a fine bubbling rag whose simple charming melodies positively invite vocalisation, no close harmonies here! Its form is a 4-bar introduction followed by AABBACC strains which are shared by the treble and 1st tenor voices. The C strain is the catchy New Orleans tune, Te-Na-Na, which as late as 1940 was used by Ferdinand Morton in his Mama's Got a Baby. A delightful ensemble piece!
Dixie Queen was published by Victor Kremer Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
