Length: approx. 3 mins.
The Bedouin Attack is a stately affair making much use of the upper registers thus requiring meticulous tonguing in this recorder adaptation. Careful attention should also be paid to the dynamics with its rapid alternation between ff and p. This composition makes use of just 3 melodies in a complicated AABBCC form in the key of Ab-major. It has a 2-bar introduction and the A and B sections are interspersed with a 7-bar passage. The C-section actually is the same as the A-section but with the first eight bars being exchanged with the last eight bars. All-in-all a grand march, its melodies being a little at odds with its title and the fierce Bedouin attackers depicted on the front cover of the original sheet music.
The Bedouin Attack was published by Hamilton S. Gordon, New York, USA.
A tempo of 120 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a sextet version of this item.
