Length: approx. 3½ mins.
Harlequin is a pleasing intermezzo in AABBACCA form with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the A- and CC strains whereby the major keys used are Eb and Ab. The cover of the original sheet music shows the composer herself and proclaims that it was played by the famous Brooke Band. In this adaptation for recorder sextet, the melodies are shared by the treble and 1st tenor voices, the former having some bar-counting to do before joining the fray.
Harlequin was published by Bessie Boniel, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
