According to the Internet source given below, Stefan Thomas studied piano and composition at Dr. Hoch's Konservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1990 he began his studies in composition, piano and music theory at the Musikhochschule Köln, and continued his composition studies with Tristan Keuris in the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
In 1995 he won first prize in the "Young European Composers" competition in Leipzig and in 1997 he won first prize in the "Internationaler Kompositionwettbewerb Joseph Haydn."
He lives as composer and pianist in Cologne, Germany
