James Royce Shannon  (1881-1946)

According to the Internet source given below, James Royce Shannon [James Royce] was an American actor, composer and songwriter of popular music. Born in Adrian; Michigan he established a theatrical company which toured the US and Europe. He was also a long-time drama critic for the Detroit Free Press. His most popular song was Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral (1913) for the musical production Shameen Dhu (New York, 1914). He wrote the lyrics to The Missouri Waltz (1916) by Frederic Knight Logan which eventually became the official Missouri State Song. Of ragtime interest are his Waiman Rag (1910) and Log Cabin Rag (1914).
