According to the Internet source given below, Johann Baptist Schenk was an Austrian compopser, born and died in Vienna. He studied with Wagenseil between 1774-1777. He wrote operas ("Singspiele"), cantatas, masses, church music, 10 symphonies, 4 harp concertos, 5 string quartets and trios, songs. He was friends both with Wolfgang A. Mozart and Franz Schubert; Ludwig van Beethoven was amongst his pupils.
