Erhard Karkoschka  (1923-)

According to the Internet source given below, is a German composer of Czech descent. He was born in Moravská Ostrava [Mährisch-Ostrau] and has lived in Stuttgart since 1946. His parents came from North Moravia where his father was an engineer. He started playing violin at the age of 10 and his first experimental compositions at 12. He studied music theory with Anton Aich himself a pupil of Antonín Dvorák. After his move to Germany he studied conducting from 1946-53 in Stuttgart under Gustav Koslik, composition 1956-59 with Karl Marx in Tübingen, music science with Georg Reichert und Walter Gerstenberg as well as philosophy and religion.
In 1962 if founded the "Ensemble Neue Musik" in Stuttgart and went on in furthering "New Music" in many fields, one of which was the establishment of a studio for electronic music.
