Rudolf Friml  (1879-1972)

According to the Internet source given below, Rudolf Friml was a Czech-born American pianist and composer of popular songs and operettas. He studied music at the Prague conservatory and accompanied the violinist Jan Kubelik, performing both in Europe and America. Friml settled in New York as a composer in 1906. His best known works include The Firefly (1912), Katinka (1915), Rose Marie (1924), The Vagabond King (1925) and The Three Musketeers (1930). Amongst his songs Donkey Serenade and Indian Love Call. have since become evergreen standards. He was an active pianist well into his eighties until his death in Hollywood.
