According to the Internet source given below, Filippo Azzaiolo was an Italian composer, singer in various Bolognese churches. He is famed above everything for having published three books of villotas alla padoana for four voices (1557-1569) entitled Villotte del fiore. These publications collected his own compositions and those of others in a light popular style using devices such as dance rhythms and nonsense syllables. Chi passa was especially well known and was used as the basis of a keyboard piece by William Byrd.
